This birthday was highly anticipated! Kate thought out every detail of how she wanted her birthday celebration to be, and it did not disappoint. She was so cute and it was fun to watch her excitement.

We left school early to go home and get ready for her special "tea party" birthday party. We had a surprise visit from Papa with donuts and it was a fun afternoon making things "fancy" for her party. Kate knew just how she wanted the table to look and she set it just so.
It was a fun afternoon filled with lots of pink lemonade, apple juice, frilly dress up and of course birthday cake and presents.
I can't take credit for decorating this cake. I wish! My mom brought this over for Kate. Isn't it pretty?
Some things I want to remember about Kate at age 5: She has a heart of gold. She is very caring and likes to give lots of hugs and kisses. She tells me she loves me at least 10 times a day. She needs lots of snuggle time and loves to read books together. She got Pippi Longstocking for her birthday and she has loved reading that together. She has always been a book lover and is starting to read on her own now. It is fun to listen to her sound out words and she always recognizes her name! Kate also loves art and I can often find her sitting at her table drawing pictures or writing a story. She has a recent obsession with Polly Pocket dolls and she and Gwen play them for hours. Kate is a great big sister. She is (mostly) great about sharing with Gwen and showing her how to do things. Gwen likes to play a little too rough sometimes and I'll occasionally find Kate screaming for help as Gwen climbs all over her or is "bamming" her. Kate is too nice to fight back. We love having Kate in our family.
