Our last hurrah of the summer at Lake Tahoe--such an incredible place! Here are the girls on our first beach day there relaxing in their hand made sand castle lounge chairs. Living the good life!
We stopped at Krispy Kreme on our way there for the most amazing hot fresh donut I've ever had!
Sunday we went to church and had a picnic on the lake. We played qwirkle while Clara napped and organized crayons. It was a good day.
Disney channel cartoons and cupcake wars in bed are a favorite part of the day. These girls were loving the cable television!

Beach days. The sun was hot, so the lake water was refreshing! We loved that the hotel had chairs and umbrellas set up for you!

S'mores by the pool were a nightly treat.
One day we ventured to the south side of the lake to hike to Angora Lakes. It was a nice short hike for Clara, who still had to be carried part of the way. Once we got there we were rewarded with a cute little lake complete with a general store renting boats and selling lemonade and ice cream! We paddled in a rowboat across the lake to do some exploring and Kate talked me into jumping off a 20 ft cliff with her. Brave girl! Gwen got a fly stuck in her eye, which was quite traumatic for about 30 minutes until we got it out. The fly died. Gwen's eye is fine. Angora lake was the sweetest place. Definitely a highlight of the trip.
Another beach day. Gwen picked up a new friend she named "turtle-y" that now lives in our swimming pool at home. She also found friends on the beach that were having craw-dad races and she got to join in. Paul and I took turns paddle boarding down the beach. It was fun to see all the mansions with their floating trampolines on the lake. Kate trespassed to test out the tramp. She gave it two thumbs up! I think we've figured out where we want to retire. We better keep saving!

The girls first fishing experience! We went to a trout farm where the fish bite in 10 minutes or less. My kind of fishing! It was more gross than I thought it would be. After you catch the fish you have to whack it on the head with a stick--about 20 times! Thankfully Paul was there to do this part. The rest of us were squealing and laughing. It was hilarious and disgusting at the same time. Just when you thought you'd killed the poor fish, it would start flopping around again. Clara loved playing with the worm bait she called "snakes". We took our catch home and cooked it up for lunch! It was delicious, as long as I wasn't thinking about it flopping around just an hour before. Gross.
The girls had fun working on a puzzle while we were there. It was a great week in such a beautiful place and a fun way to end our summer!
