Usually there is something interesting to post about after a weekend. Unfortunately what's going on over here isn't too interesting. Just sniffly noses and sore throats all around, two front teeth coming in (translates very whiny baby), trying to finish up on Christmas shopping/cards/wrapping/mailing, etc. and lots and lots of studying. Yes, exams are next week and that means it's finally time to open the books. He does a great job, really. He makes us all proud. And to go along with that we have lots of beautiful snow outside on the ground and today it didn't hit 30 degrees. Not exactly stroller pushing weather. So we've been trying to keep ourselves entertained inside while Paul puts in his time at school. Kate’s been reading corporate finance and microeconomics in her spare time:
She’s also taken to exploring the house. So far she’s managed to pull over the Christmas tree and only break 3 ornaments, learned how to pull the plugs out of the wall, dump the trashcan over on the kitchen floor and pull the knob off the DVD player. So even though our weekend hasn’t been too interesting, it has been eventful. At least on Kate’s end. I’m afraid our sweet little baby might be entering toddlerhood.
To avoid sounding like a complete bahumbug we are looking forward to Christmas and traveling to see our family on Friday. I try not to think about the plane flight and just focus on the good times, good food, traditions and all that is Christmas to look forward to. There may even be some bathing suits donned in sunny Southern California fashion. Christmas and palm trees, gotta love it!
We are also looking forward to visiting good friends, the Nelsons, in Seattle, Paul is traveling to Tokyo with a group from school and we’ll stop in Denver on the way back to Connecticut. We’re just getting Kate warmed up for all the traveling that will be happening this Spring. We booked 6 flights today that we’ll be taking by the end of March – Our friends Cameron and Aaron are both getting married, so we’ll be back and forth to Salt Lake once, heading to San Diego, back to New Haven, back to Long Beach, on vacation somewhere for Spring break (we haven’t figured out where) and back to New Haven. I will end up staying with my parents, but poor Paul has to make an extra round trip back to New Haven for midterm exams. So JetBlue and Delta are happy that we inevitably traverse the continent several times a year – some things you just can’t miss!

Good luck on the flights! Don't you wish that there were planes designated for babies, and then we could all fly without worrying about our neighbors quite so much? Oh well. I'm sure Kate will do great! Merry Christmas!
I love your blog header. You are so great about changing it and updating it frequently. I agree with you...some things you just can't miss, even though that translates into a lot of flying time. I hope you guys get over the sickness soon and you will be all geared up for the holidays, come Friday. Merry Christmas if we don't see you before you leave!
The toddler stage is so fun but so challenging at the same time.
What saved us the last few flights has been to make sure Tanner eats and plays hard before we get on the plane. Seattle airport has a play area, it is great. You might want to see if they have something like that in your airport. New books, toys, stickers, and coloring books sometimes help a little too when you are stuck in your seat. I love it. I can't wait until my little sister has two of those "toddlers" running around the house. Let the fun begin. Looking forward to seeing you guys next week.
