When we lived in Connecticut, apple picking was one of our favorite things to do in the fall. Lately we've been searching for Autumn and found it in Oak Glen, CA about an hour drive from our house. The orchards were not quite as spectacular as Connecticut, but definitely charming and it was a fun day trip.

The weather was beautiful and the girls loved everything about it. We skipped the big farms and visited a small, family farm with really nice people. The girls loved the miniature horse, chickens and bunny. The Winesap apple trees were 100 years old and the apples have been delicious.
We pressed cider with an old fashioned cider press and ate warm apple cider donuts. Tastes like Autumn!

Jill! You look so beautiful in these pictures. I'm so glad you found some Fall there in California!
Warm apple cider donuts. Mmmmmm!
Looks like a great day! I've been missing fall too and make up for it with soup on 100 degree days. Who cares what the thermometer says...October is for apples, leaves, and all the fall things. Glad your girls are enjoying school.
