September

Back to School! Gwen and Kate were so excited to start kindergarten and second grade. It took a little time to adjust from summer schedule to a longer day at school, but both girls are enjoying school and happy to go each day. 

A few days before school started we had a labor day bbq with dear friends from Connecticut who now live in Southern California! So fun to have the Walkers close by. 

We spent an evening at the beach chasing waves (Kate and Gwen) and eating s'mores and sand (Clara).

For a while now the kids have been asking why we have Mother's day and Father's day but no kids day. We picked a Sunday in September and called it kid's day! The girls chose their favorite meals for breakfast (sourdough waffles) and dinner (homemade pizza). We surprised them with a puzzle we put together that afternoon. They got to take a day off of jobs and celebrate being a kid! We have great kids.

We went on a Saturday outing to the Sherman Gardens and Library in Corona del Mar. It was beautiful! Our favorites were the "love potion" rose that smelled better than any rose we've ever smelled, the "hairy" hanging succulent plant, the sensory garden where we got to feel plants of different textures and the little turtles.

She also loves to climb up the stairs and up Kate and Gwen's bunk bed ladder onto the top bunk. Wild child. And Kate and Gwen (aka underwear chef) helping prep dinner. This must be why I feel like my house is a mess all the time.

Thursdays the girls get out of school early. We've been trying to go on a fun outing. We visited a cool historical air museum. I loved the bread truck. Imagine a truck that drives around delivering fresh bread. Sounds wonderful. The girls loved climbing on the WWII motorbike.
