Family Field Trips

Our weekends have become very precious! It seems like we are all busy during the week and don't get to spend as much time together as we'd like. Often it's a tag team effort taking care of the kids, Paul gets home and I head out the door. We love doing things together and we're trying to explore our area a bit more, outside of the usual park and library visit.

A few weekends ago we visited Tanaka Farms for a strawberry tour. We all really liked it. It's the same farm that we've been getting our produce boxes from, so it's fun to see where the food we are eating is grown. They drive you around the farm on a tractor and stop along the way to pick veggies. Because everything is grown organically you can eat them straight out of the ground, and they were all delicious! And the end of the tour, you get off to pick (and eat) very ripe strawberries.
We have also enjoyed spending time with our friend, Megan, who lives in DC and has been in town for work. Last weekend we went down to the check out the tide pools at Corona Del Mar. It was beautiful! A little tricky navigating the rocks with Kate, but she got the hang of it and was really excited about the crabs, snails, fish and sea anemones.
