Washington D.C.

We just got back from a long weekend in Washington D.C. We met my parents--Dad was there to accept an award as the "Franchisee of the Year" given by the International Franchise Association. We are very proud of him and all of his success. We also enjoyed the excuse to take a trip! It was a nice change to have a 45 minute plane ride instead of 5 hours! Kate is getting so squirmy and hard to hold. She just wants to get down and crawl around. (Well her version of crawling right now resembles the downward dog position in yoga followed by some rolling and scooting around to reach her destination of choice.) Anyway, we had a great weekend. We did the usual DC tourist spots, visited monuments, the White House, the Air and Space Museum, and walked around the national mall. DC is so clean and well maintained--all of our tax dollars in action. We also ate some good food! We ate a great dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill. It's across the street from the White House and has a lot of history as the oldest Saloon in Washington DC. Clint and Andrea met us there and it was great to see them. Clint just started Medical School at Georgetown. Sunday we had brunch at the Tabard Inn which was also a great place. It's a quaint hotel built in the late 1800's. Their pastry chef is amazing and my dad even claimed the waffles as "the best he's ever had". Great food + great company + great city =great weekend!
